Update on Autochthonous Dengue in France: Total of 21 Cases in 2024

In a new update provided by French health authorities, a total of 21 cases of autochthonous dengue have been reported in mainland France so far this year.

The geographical distribution is as follows:

  • 2 cases in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, in the municipality of Montélimar, with the onset of the first symptoms on July 8, 2024.
  • 4 cases in the Occitanie region, in the municipalities of Montpellier or Pérols (2 possible transmission locations), Aimargues, and Baho or Florac, with symptoms onset between July 16 and July 28, 2024.
  • 15 cases in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) region, in the municipalities of Sainte-Cécile-les-Vignes (10 cases), La Crau (3 cases), and La Colle sur Loup (2 cases), with symptoms onset between May 8 and July 26, 2024.
  • 1 case in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, in the municipality of Montélimar, with symptoms onset on July 8, 2024.
