Health authorities in the state of Florida, USA, reported two new cases of autochthonous dengue (locally transmitted) in the past week, both in Orange County.
This brings the total number of locally transmitted cases in the state to 25, distributed across the following counties: Hillsborough (2), Manatee, Miami-Dade (16), Monroe (3), Orange (2), and Pasco.
Seven out of ten cases have been serotyped as DENV-3, while DENV-1 and unknown strains account for the remainder.
Regarding travel-associated dengue in 2024, authorities have reported 417 cases to date across 32 of Florida’s 67 counties. More than a third of the travel-associated dengue cases (153) are linked to travel from Cuba.
