Health authorities in Macau have reported six locally transmitted cases of dengue.
The latest two patients came from the Rua do Tarrafeiro area. Previously, there were two other cases involving a 59-year-old woman and a 61-year-old man who live in the Fa Wong Tong Building in the same neighborhood. The man began experiencing fever on November 3, and dengue type 1 (DENV1) was confirmed after a blood test on November 4.
Another case involves a 25-year-old man who also resided in the Fa Wong Tong Building. The patient began experiencing headaches on October 28, followed by fever and muscle pain. He did not seek medical attention, and his infection was only discovered after Health Office personnel conducted checks on November 4.
Additionally, authorities have reclassified Macau’s 24th imported dengue case, initially reported on November 2, as the sixth locally transmitted case. This change comes in light of new information revealing that the patient had been living in the same building and district as other local transmission cases and was infected with the same type 1 dengue strain.
According to the local government, the risk of dengue spread is particularly high this month.
