The Public Health Department of the Generalitat of Catalonia has detected five mild cases of dengue in Vila-seca (Tarragona, Spain).
Two people were admitted to Joan XXIII Hospital in Tarragona and were later discharged; another was symptomatic but did not require hospitalization, and the other two were asymptomatic cases.
Although the detected cases in Vila-seca have been mild, health authorities recommend that citizens remain alert to symptoms and, if there is any suspicion, immediately go to the nearest Primary Care Center (CAP) to receive appropriate medical attention.
The Vila-seca City Council ensures that mosquito control treatments have been intensified in recent days, and on Sunday, it informed citizens through social media: ‘Health authorities inform us and ask us to give advice to the population on protecting themselves from mosquitoes and maintaining green areas and spaces without water puddles.’
In previous years, cases of local dengue had already been diagnosed in Catalonia
