The second case of locally transmitted dengue fever has been confirmed in Hong Kong. The patient, a 67-year-old man with underlying health conditions, developed symptoms on May 24 and sought medical attention. He tested positive for the dengue virus in mainland China, where he remains hospitalized in stable condition.
The Hong Kong Centre for Health Protection (CHP) is implementing prevention and control measures. A total of 21 dengue cases have been reported in Hong Kong so far this year, of which 19 were imported and two were locally transmitted. Last year, there were 59 imported cases, and in 2024, there were 161 cases (156 imported and 5 locally transmitted).
