A progressive and concerning increase in dengue cases has been detected in the Grand Lomé health region of Togo since January 1, 2026. This resurgence coincides with the rainy season, which is linked to increased activity of the mosquito vector. Multiple media reports corroborate this concern. The high population density of the Grand Lomé and inadequate drainage infrastructure contribute to transmission.
Co-endemicity with malaria poses diagnostic challenges. In 2024, Togo reported 2,205 cases of dengue.
