Panama has registered more than 5,000 cases of dengue fever, with a national incidence rate of 115 per 100,000 inhabitants. The 10-14 age group is the most affected, with 167 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
There have been 628 hospitalizations and 16 deaths associated with dengue. Bocas del Toro and Los Santos have each registered three deaths, while the Metropolitan Region, Colón, and Chiriquí have each reported two. The Metropolitan Region leads in infections with 1,490 cases, followed by Colón (1,188) and Panama West (508). Veracruz, Puerto Pilón, and Tocumen are the districts with the highest incidence.
