The Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC) reported 995 dengue cases in the week ending July 27 (week 30), a 20% increase over the average of the previous four weeks.
The total number of accumulated cases from the beginning of 2016 through week 30 is 23,481. Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease whose symptoms include fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, rash, muscle and joint pain, and minor bleeding. It can progress to severe forms requiring hospitalization and can be fatal.
