The Dominican Republic has registered 245 confirmed cases of dengue and one death as of August 8, 2026, representing a 34.6% increase compared to the same period in 2025. The incidence rate is 3.73 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Weeks 24 to 30 of 2026 showed the highest concentration of cases, with 19 cases in week 28. Week 31 (August 2-8) registered six cases, a decrease compared to previous weeks. New infections were concentrated in the provinces of La Altagracia and La Romana. Untyped serotypes (57.96%) and DENV-2 (33.47%) predominate. The Minister of Public Health emphasizes the need to eliminate mosquito breeding sites to prevent the disease, which can be fatal if not treated promptly.
