An increase in dengue cases is being reported in Nepal, particularly with the onset of the monsoon season. Since December, cases have been identified in 72 districts. So far, 1,222 people have been infected, with the highest numbers in Bagmati (330), Koshi (263), Gandaki (221), Lumbini (193), Sudurpaschim (167), Karnali (31), and Madhesh (17).
Kathmandu has the highest number of cases (128), followed by Kaski (89) and Jhapa (85).
Outbreaks typically peak in June, July, and August. There is no specific treatment for dengue, but early detection and proper management are key to preventing fatalities.
