Mexico has registered 4,152 cases of dengue fever in 2016 as of August 17, affecting 29 states. Sonora leads with 1,047 cases, followed by Veracruz (726), Tabasco (546), Sinaloa (470), and Quintana Roo (208). Of the total cases, 2,237 presented with warning signs or severe dengue, with 54% being women and 46% men. Seven deaths have been reported nationwide, concentrated in Veracruz (2), Tabasco (1), Quintana Roo (1), Michoacán (1), Oaxaca (1), and Querétaro (1). Mexico City, Tlaxcala, and Zacatecas remain without any reported cases. More than 210,000 ovitraps have been installed to monitor the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
