U.S. health authorities have reported 55 locally acquired dengue cases in Florida this year.
In the past week, three new cases were reported in Miami-Dade County, one in Hillsborough County, and the first case of the year in Sarasota County.
The case distribution is as follows: Broward (2), Hillsborough (4), Manatee (1), Miami-Dade (33), Monroe (3), Orange (2), Palm Beach (3), Pasco (6), and Sarasota (1).
Of the 55 dengue cases, 45 were serotyped by PCR, revealing 40 cases of DENV-3, four cases of DENV-1, and one case of DENV-4.
In 2023, positive samples were reported in 186 individuals across five counties.
Regarding travel-associated dengue cases reported in Florida, 688 cases have been reported across 34 counties.
