The Ministry of Health of El Salvador reports approximately one thousand suspected dengue cases in the last month, with six consecutive weeks of increase in arboviruses. As of Epidemiological Week 35 (August 30 – September 5), a total of 4,149 cases have been attended. 42.8% of suspected cases, or 1,776, are children. 26 cases have been confirmed by laboratory and 36 people have been hospitalized. Two confirmed dengue deaths have been reported so far this year.
Serotype DENV-3 is the predominant one. 18 out of 44 municipalities are under observation for “slight affectation,” with the capital being the most affected department. The upward trend places the disease below the safety line.
