The Ministry of Health of Vanuatu has declared a dengue epidemic in South Efate, Shefa Province, with 23 cumulative confirmed cases as of Epidemiological Week 25 (June 25, 2026), including six new cases in the most recent week. Two hospitalizations have been reported, with no deaths.
Approximately 59% of cases are concentrated in the Pango Area Council, with additional cases in Erakor, Port Vila, Mele, and Eratap. Fifty-nine percent of cases were female, and 59% were over 26 years of age. The possible importation of cases from Fiji is under investigation. The circulating dengue serotype has not yet been confirmed.
