Dengue alert in Paraguay

In the last three weeks, 12 cases of dengue have been confirmed in Paraguay.

The General Directorate of Health Surveillance reports an average of 151 suspected cases of dengue per week.

The 12 confirmed cases are distributed as follows: Asunción (7), Central (3), Concepción (1), and Caazapá (1), with the DENV-2 serotype identified. Four people were hospitalized with dengue, and no deaths have been reported. The municipality of Limpio shows a decrease in reported dengue cases. Regions with an increase in suspected cases include Central, Alto Paraná, Itapúa, Concepción, Cordillera, Misiones, Caazapá, Amambay, Canindeyú, Guairá, and Alto Paraguay.

The official cumulative total of dengue cases in 2016 is 261.
