2,286 confirmed cases of dengue were reported in Mexico during epidemiological week 21, ending May 30, 2026, a figure lower than the 3,692 cases reported during the same week in 2025. The total number of probable cases is 23,718, compared to 40,109 in 2025.
Eighty percent of the confirmed cases nationwide originated in Sonora, Sinaloa, Tabasco, Veracruz, and Baja California Sur. Quintana Roo registered 94 confirmed cases, a figure considerably lower than the national average, despite being a tourist destination. The host states for the 2026 World Cup, such as Jalisco (56 cases), Mexico City (5), and Nuevo León (4), are also showing low numbers this week, although historically higher numbers are expected in 2025. Sonora and Baja California Sur have seen a significant increase in cases in 2026 compared to 2025.
The DENV-3 serotype is predominant (93% of serotyped specimens). The risk of dengue transmission from Quintana Roo is highlighted due to its high volume of tourists and the World Cup.
