Colombia has issued an alert for a dengue outbreak, registering 68,370 cumulative cases through epidemiological week 31 of 2016. 2,591 cases were reported in the last week, with 1,954 new cases. Of the total, 41,317 are without warning signs, 26,368 with warning signs, and 685 severe.
Transmission is concentrated in Meta, Bolívar, Cesar, Santander, Norte de Santander, Magdalena, La Guajira, Casanare, Cartagena de Indias, and Antioquia, representing 67.9% of cases. 179 probable deaths have been reported, of which 41 are confirmed.
The national incidence is 204.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, with Meta, Amazonas, Magdalena, Guaviare, Casanare, Arauca, and Bolívar being the most affected. The highest incidence is observed in children under 17 years of age.
