Dengue on Mer Island, Torres Strait, Australia

Health authorities in Australia (Queensland Health) reported that in the past week, 19 locally acquired cases of dengue were notified on Mer Island, located in the Torres Strait.

The total number of cases identified in this outbreak amounts to 39.

Five of these cases were identified as dengue serotype type 3 (DENV3), while the serotypes of the remaining cases have not been determined.
