Health authorities in the Philippines have reported 314,785 dengue cases as of October 2024.
Overall, there has been an 8% decrease in cases between September 29 and October 12, 2024, with 21,097 cases reported compared to 23,032 cases from September 15 to 28, 2024. All regions in the country recorded declines during this period, except for the National Capital Region (from 2,765 to 3,002 cases), Central Luzon (from 2,219 to 2,351 cases), and Calabarzon (from 2,907 to 3,513 cases).
The case fatality rate has decreased this year compared to last year. As of October 26, 2024, this rate stands at 0.26%, compared to 0.34% for the same period last year. This is likely due to improved healthcare-seeking practices and better healthcare services.
The rainy season may have increased the number of mosquito breeding sites due to the accumulation of stagnant water in some regions.
