Health authorities in the Dominican Republic have reported 9,239 suspected cases of dengue as of August 31, 86 more than in the previous week’s report. Of these, 1,075 were confirmed by laboratory tests, an increase of five cases compared to week 34.
This represents an incidence rate of 128.61 infections per 100,000 inhabitants.
Since the beginning of this year, the provinces with the highest number of febrile patients with suspected dengue are: Santiago, with 1,852 cases; Santo Domingo, with 1,150; and Duarte, with 722.
53% (4,865 out of 9,239) of the reports affected male patients, with 41% (3,756) occurring in the 10 to 19 age group.
