Dengue in Sri Lanka. 25,619 cases (EW23)

June 11, 2024

Health authorities in Sri Lanka have reported 700 cases of dengue in the last seven days, indicating a significant resurgence in the outbreak. The increase in cases can be attributed to rainy conditions and the receding floods, which create more mosquito breeding sites.

As of June 7, a total of 25,619 cases have been reported in 2024, with the highest number in the Colombo district, totaling 5,554. The Western Province has recorded 9,348 cases, the highest number at the provincial level.
