Health authorities in Singapore (NEA) have reported 10,234 cases of dengue so far in 2024, a figure that surpasses the total recorded in 2023 (9,949 cases).
Four serotypes of the dengue virus circulate in Singapore. Serotype 2 of the dengue virus (DENV-2) has been predominant since September 2023, with periodic predominance of DENV-1 and DENV-3 in 2023.
The population’s immunity to the four dengue virus serotypes remains low. Therefore, the presence of all serotypes may lead to an increase in dengue cases in the coming months if appropriate measures are not taken.
