In the last three weeks of 2024 (epidemiological weeks 50, 51, and 52), a total of 72 dengue cases were identified in Paraguay. No deaths were reported during this period.
According to partial data, nine regions in the country have shown an increase in notifications in recent weeks: Asunción, Central, Concepción, Presidente Hayes, Alto Paraguay, San Pedro, Caazapá, Caaguazú, and Amambay.
So far, Concepción and Alto Paraguay are the departments that have reported active outbreaks of the disease, with a predominance of serotype DENV-2, which was also dominant during the previous epidemic. In Alto Paraguay, the outbreak is localized in Puerto Casado, where 10 cases were recorded in the last three weeks, while in Concepción, 28 cases were reported in the district of San Lázaro.
The national epidemiological scenario shows a progressive and sustained increase in reports of suspected dengue cases, although with low overall case circulation.
