Dengue in Mexico, SE30: 28,661 Cases and 76 Deaths

Health authorities in Mexico have reported 28,661 cases and 76 deaths from dengue so far this year. In the last week (SE30), 2,383 new infections were registered.

48% of confirmed cases were reported in five states. Guerrero leads the list with 4,333 infections, followed by Tabasco with 2,832 cases; Michoacán with 2,277; Morelos with 2,228; and Oaxaca with 2,138.

The deaths were recorded in Morelos with 13; Guerrero with 12; Tabasco and Veracruz with 10 each; Quintana Roo with 7; Michoacán with 5; State of Mexico with 4; Oaxaca, Nayarit, and Campeche with 3 each; and Chiapas with 2.

Up to epidemiological week 30 (July 23 to 29), the Ministry of Health reported that serotype 3 continues to predominate in infections.

Of the total patients, 15,656 have contracted non-severe dengue; 12,034 dengue with warning signs; 971 severe dengue; and 13,005 cases with these last two manifestations of the disease.
