Health authorities in Honduras have reported 105 deaths from dengue and 99,973 cases so far this year.
Given the situation, hospitals and health centers have had to set up special wards to care for the sick. The worst year for Honduras was 2019, with 180 deaths and 113,000 cases.
According to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the second most affected country in Central America is Guatemala, with 82 deaths among 69,937 cases. Panama ranks third in the region with 23 deaths among 16,149 cases. It is followed by El Salvador with seven deaths among 5,009 cases, Nicaragua with one death among 55,542 cases, and Costa Rica, which has not recorded any deaths out of 16,806 cases.
