Dengue in Costa Rica: Increase in Cases in Alajuela, Puntarenas, and San José

Health authorities in Costa Rica have reported an increase in dengue cases in the regions of Alajuela, Puntarenas, and San José.

So far this year, a total of 17,859 cases have been reported, a substantial increase compared to the data from 2023. The provinces of Alajuela (5,427 cases), Puntarenas (4,773 cases), and San José (3,131 cases) have experienced a particularly significant rise.

Three possible deaths related to the disease are currently under investigation—two in Turrialba and one in Desamparados.
