Health authorities (Africa CDC) have reported that since the beginning of this year, there have been 1,205 cases of dengue (562 confirmed and 643 suspected) across 9 islands of Cape Verde. No deaths have been reported.
These cases are a continuation of the outbreak reported in the country in November 2023. The current figure brings the total to 1,422 cases (755 confirmed), with 52% being women and 22% being individuals aged between 10 and 19 years.
The predominant serotype is 3 (DENV3), although cases of DENV1 have also been recorded.
